The ASU Group Announces Board of Directors’ Election Results

The ASU Group is an employee owned corporation that provides services to the insurance industry and self-insured organizations. The corporation held its annual meeting on December 16, 2009 at their corporate office in Okemos, Michigan and is pleased to announce the election results.

The 2010 Board of Directors is as follows:

  • Kim Pavlik - Kim is a managing partner for the firm Andrews Pavlik and Hooper, P.L.C. in Okemos, MI and has 29 years of experience in serving accounting and tax clients.
  • Tara O'Connor LaRose - Along with over 10 years of service on the board, Tara has held numerous operational and executive positions within ASU. In her 25 years with the company, she has served as President of the Recovery Unlimited division, Group Chief Administrative Officer, Executive Vice President and currently serves as President and CEO.
  • James R. Matthews - Jim was past president of the ASU Group prior to his retirement in 2000. From 1969, he worked in various positions including President/CEO, Treasurer and Chief Administrative Officer. He currently serves as The ASU Group ESOP Trustee and has been a member of the ASU Group Board of Directors since 1986.
  • Luke Haase - A 16 year veteran of public relations, marketing and consulting, and founder of The Intelligence Agency. He currently serves as a board member for the Economic Club of Traverse City (Mich.) and marketing chair for GlimaNorthwest (Great Lakes Interactive Marketing Association).
  • Duane Hershberger - Formerly Chief Information Officer of the ASU Group, Duane's information technology career spans thirty-eight years. Throughout his career he has played key leadership roles by strategically leveraging technology to achieve organizational goals in both the private and public sectors.

The following individuals were elected as officers of the corporation for 2010:

  • Tara O'Connor LaRose, CEO President
  • Sarah Hartman, Treasurer
  • Debra Claeys, Secretary
  • Kim Pavlik, Chaiman
  • James Matthews, Vice Chairman

The Board elected the following as ESOP Trustees:

  • James Matthews, Chair
  • Sarah Hartman

The Board appointed the following to the ESOP Fiduciary Committee:

  • Brad Rutgers
  • Debra Claeys
  • Matthew Carl
  • Tara O'Connor LaRose, Chair

The Board appointed the following to the ESOP Advisory Committee:

  • Audrey Pike
  • Cheryl Hendrixson
  • Matthew Carl, Chair
